Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are prebiotic carbohydrates that are derived from natural sources like chicory root, Jerusalem artichoke, agave and sugar cane. Icon Foods utilizes a natural water extraction process to release these chains of non-digestible fructose and glucose molecules. FOS delivers less sweetness than sugar with minimal calories. Commonly used in combination with other sweeteners, FOS provides a variety of functional and nutritional benefits in foods.

As a prebiotic, fructooligosaccharides are beneficial to gut health by supporting the growth of healthy microflora. ThauSweet sweetness modulator increases the sweetness potencies, as well as, the elimination of the slow sweetness onset and sweetness linger for stevia, monk fruit, other high-intensity sweeteners, in addition to bitter or astringent compounds, extracts and herbs. The primary effective compound in ThauSweet is derived from Thaumatin which comes from a mixture of proteins isolated from the katemfe fruit of West Africa. ThauSweet is very sweet, builds slowly and is the perfect masking agent for the astringent back taste that can occur with supplemental herbs and extracts.

CitruSweet sweetness modulator increases the sweetness potencies, as well as, the elimination of the slow sweetness onset and the sweetness linger for stevia, monk fruit and other high-intensity sweeteners. Driven by the flavonoid naringenin; in its natural state, it is responsible for citrus fruit’s bitter taste. When treated with natural alkaline compounds and then hydrogenated, it becomes roughly 1500 times sweeter than sugar.
